Fire chief calls for county fuel management program
County Fire Chief Bill Patterson urged a countywide fuel management plan to reduce wildfire risk after the Sycamore Canyon fire. The Board of Supervisors backed forming lateral fuel break areas, linking with Forest Service firebreaks, and increasing fire patrols and road closures based on weather. Public Works eyed brush reduction through chipping and burning with air-quality considerations. Allan Hancock College announced a fall arts season featuring guitarist Ron Hudson with season tickets on sale September 12.
