Six Labor Day accidents kill two in Lompoc area
A holiday crash spree left two dead and nine injured in six incidents around Lompoc. Irvin York and May York died when their car veered into a camper truck on Highway 101 north of Stowell Road. Five other injuries ranged from minor to serious across Nipomo, Lompoc, Vandenberg AFB, and Santa Ynez Valley locations with several drivers treated and released.

Lost Girl Found After Night at Magic Mountain
Four year old Peggy Mizumoto waved goodbye to her mother and rode the amusement park monorail at Magic Mountain. A 70 man posse searched lakes and countryside through Sunday and Monday with no sign until a tavern owner in Los Angeles reported a couple dropped the girl off there.
