Dissenters Reported as Prisoners in Soviet Psychiatry
At the World Congress of Psychiatrists in Honolulu two Russian doctors in exile described dissenters in the USSR as mentally ill to justify confinement. They cited about 200 cases where sane individuals were held in state hospitals or special institutions, with abuse and punitive measures including wet wraps and fixation.
