San Francisco reports BART will carry paying riders starting September 11 marking the nation’s first mass transit system since 1907. The project spans 75 miles with 34 stations in three counties, though inaugural service will run only from Fremont to Oakland.

Twenty officers completed Minuteman Modernized Operational Readiness Training at Vandenberg Air Force Base conducted by the 4315th Combat Crew Training Squadron. Lt Col T J Kovar Jr congratulated them as Capt Michael L Workman 1st Lt Robert G Campbell and 2nd Lt Timothy P Cronan earned distinguished graduate certificates for top performance.
