Officers Wives Honor Mrs Garland at Vandenberg Tea

Mrs. William C. Garland wife of the new 1st Strategic Aerospace Division commanding general was honored by the Officers Wives Club at a tea in the Vandenberg Officers Club. Mrs. Robert J. Ray, wife of the new vice commander, also attended with 450 guests from Lompoc Santa Maria Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez.

Fashion show caps weeks orientation for Lompoc teachers

The Lom poc Education Association staged a Friday fashion show luncheon at the Lions Inn to close a week of orientation for local women teachers. About 150 attended a golf afternoon for men at Village Country Club. Models wore sports classroom and evening ensembles from Moore's Fashion at the Inn, The Irish Boutique, JayGee and H&M Shoes with Grace Anderson providing music.

Family Reunion Brings Four Generations Together

Mr and Mrs Llewellyn Turner hosted a four generation family reunion at the daughter and son in law Richard Eugene Ivey’s Newport home with 32 guests. Attendees included Ronald Goode of Orange and Richard Lee Ivey of Garden Grove with his one year old Richie. Additional visitors traveled from Bremerton Washington Mission Hills and Poplar Bluff Missouri to attend. Others came from San Diego Phoenix and Vietnam and Sacramento for the event.

Space Bugs Plan Lopez Recreation Area Weekend Outing

Santa Maria Travel Trailer Club Space Bugs announce a camping weekend September 5 to 7 at Lopez Recreation Area. Hosts George and Patty McFadden of Santa Maria with Jeff Boyce and Ted Sweeney will host a potluck Saturday, watermelon feast Saturday evening, and pancake breakfast Sunday. Reservations due by September 3. Regular outings are first weekend each month with travel typically under 150 miles.

Mariners Club Hosts All Church Picnic in Ryan Park

The Presbyterian Mariners Club invites all church members to an all church picnic at Ryan Park on Sunday September 7 with serving at one o’clock. Families should bring chicken and a salad or beans for their group along with dessert items. Volunteers may contact Mrs Nick McGraw to discuss homemade ice cream. The club will host an enchilada dinner on September 28 with first mates in charge.

Lompoc Historical Society honors two life members at annual dinner

At the Lompoc Historical Society and Lompoc Pioneers annual dinner in Grange Hall, Mrs. Clara Rice and Frank Barker of San Pedro received life memberships. Barker, born in Lompoc in 1886, has long contributed memoirs and drawings of early Lompoc scenes. The event also highlighted Santa Rita history and local education, with reminiscences from Ernest Carter and a plaque presented by Councilwoman Charlotte Benton.
