Population growth called ruinous for Santa Ynez Valley
Santa Ynez Valley General Plan Advisory Committee urges reduced zoning density to meet a carrying capacity near 24 000, down from current 9 000. The group argues for in depth studies before any general plan changes, favors keeping density low, limits on multiple dwellings and lot splits, and notes 2 150 vacant parcels as of four months ago. An impact study is deemed virtually mandatory ahead of any changes.
