Reagan names plan to declare candidacy in November
Reagan campaign officials say the formal declaration of candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination will occur in Washington in the final two weeks of November. Reagan will then travel to New Hampshire for the February 24 primary and to other key states as groundwork continues. Gregg notes the campaign is in an embryonic stage and will surface an organized operation upon announcement. Ford supporters say any margin of victory in New Hampshire would be meaningful, while Sears predicts about 40 percent for Reagan. A Wyoming stone circle, resembling a primitive astronomical observatory, is described as the American Stonehenge.
