Fire station remodel plan seeks HUD funds in city
A city official said HUD block grant money may cover remodeling the aging South G Street fire station and building a second facility in the north. Fire Chief Douglas Spickard testified before the Fiscal Services Department proposing a $196000 remodel and a new 6000 square foot station to improve citywide response within three minutes. The city could receive $242000 in HUD funds as part of a $1.8 million urban aid between 1976 and 1980, with final council priorities set on Nov 4.
