Lompoc Couple Builds Own House
Lompoc couple Mary and Kenneth Dakin began building their house on Sweeney Road after moving to the valley last year. They started the foundation mid August and the house package arrived about eight weeks ago. Their children James and Tonya attend La Purisima and Hapgood schools while Kenneth works the graveyard shift as a Lompoc police officer. They previously lived in a prefab panelized home at Lake Tahoe and stopped at an Elk Grove factory to inspect pre cut homes before remodeling a house at 409 South A Street.

Dihna Benson Funeral Set in Santa Barbara
Funeral services for Dihna C. Benson 78 will be held today at 1 p.m. at Santa Barbara Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Duane Peterson officiating. Burial follows at Oak Hill Cemetery, Ballard. She died yesterday at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital after living in Santa Ynez 13 years. Survived by husband Hjalmar, sister Ellen Copeland, brother John Lunsted, two sons Herbert and Peter, and five grandchildren.

Mission Hills Water Co sealed about 40 meters for outstanding bills four to five months old. General manager James Smitherman cited notices sent under Public Utilities Commission rules and noted some bills reached $200. Most meters were reopened as payments arrived. a prior billing glitch in 1976 was resolved.

Highfield pleads guilty to disturbing the peace in Lompoc
Marinda Dee Highfield 18 of 615 North O St Space 27 changed her plea from not guilty to guilty of disturbing the peace after a Sept 11 brawl that injured two officers. She was fined 250 and placed on three years summary probation. Several co-defendants faced charges and trials in Lompoc Municipal Court.
