Water Purveyors Council Formed in Santa Ynez Area
Representatives from Lompo, Santa Maria, Buellton and many entities formed the Water Purveyors Council in Santa Ynez to negotiate terms for state project water, share information, and guide early contracts ahead of first deliveries in 1986. The council named Stanley Hatch temporary chairman and approved four objectives to coordinate contracts, communication, forum for implementation issues, and county input. The group set a Nov 17 meeting at the Santa Ynez River Water Conservation District offices.

George Wallace and his wife Lorene recall the 1923 Honda seawreck near Point Conception as they study clippings and artifacts in Lompoc. Wallace survived the loss of seven destroyers that night while 23 sailors died. They hope a monument and memorial fund will honor the crew.
