The space shuttle Enterprise made its last free flight failing to land on concrete at Edwards Air Force Base after a 1 minute 55 second drop from 17 000 feet. Oxnard police arrested a 16 year old youth in the beating death of Paul Yenney Jr. and the assault on his girlfriend Linda Fiene. Johnny G. Lopez, 18, was arraigned on first degree murder charges and a 17 year old suspect may be charged as an adult. At least one more suspect is sought.

Sadat Declares Debt Moratorium on Soviets

Remains of 21 Vietnam servicemen arrive for burial
At Travis Air Force Base the remains of 20 servicemen and one civilian who died in Vietnam were flown home for final burial. They were transported to the Army mortuary in Oakland for family return and identified through Hawaii labs. Names released include Navy Lt Richard Thum and Air Force Maj Joseph Brand among others. one set remains unidentified. Total unaccounted for in Southeast Asia stands at 1,803.
