Bug Line Buses Hit San Diego Campus Scene
California State University students ride two ad funded buses from Ocean Beach and Pacific Beach to the campus fifteen miles inland. Dr Jack Haberstroh uses the 20 year old buses with bug themed exteriors for advertising revenue and student training. Each bus runs four trips daily with ads priced from 25 to 180 dollars a month and a 20 percent commission for student sellers. The venture aims to reduce hitchhiking and aid transportation for elderly residents, with costs estimated at 2000 to 2500 dollars monthly and profits sought within two to three years.
