U.N. debates test China's seat and Taiwan ouster

In New York the General Assembly nears a vote on admitting Communist China with Taiwan's expulsion in doubt. U.S. Ambassador George Bush, speaking in Houston, predicted Taiwan would not lose its seat as several nations weigh a late word on expulsion, with a decision possible tonight or Tuesday.

Harris Grade freeway project budget approved by state panel

The California Highway Commission approved a 9.72 million dollar Harris Grade project in the 1972 73 highway budget. Four million will be spent in 1973 74 and 3 73 million in 1974 75. The 5.1 mile four lane bypasses Lompoc east of Route 1 and includes interchanges at Route 246 Central Avenue Lompoc Casmalia Road Burton Mesa Boulevard and a bridge over the Santa Ynez River.

United Fund auction to air on Cable TV Channel 4

The United Fund will hold a televised auction tomorrow at 7 30 p m on Channel 4 with Col H D Young as chair. Merchants responses are strong and more items arrive daily with donations sought via the UF office. Art show winners announced at Lompoc event

Vic Mottarella Jr won Best of Show for Ant Watcher in the Fall Art Show by Lompoc Valley Art Association. He also claimed first place for another entry as about 100 works by local artists were displayed. Other winners included Dee Sudbury Peter Darvas and Robert Willard in various placements. About 250 attendees over the three day show.
