The Lompoc Flower Festival has paid more than 40000 to community causes in the past decade. Chairman John Martin notes queen sponsor groups and high ticket proceeds benefiting local youth programs aid to the blind family assistance churches and a new Little League field funded by festival cash. Nevada Prison Hunger Strike Ends? Warden Rebuffs Amnesty Deal
About 340 inmates at Nevada State Prison offered to end their four day hunger strike if Amnesty was granted to 14 instigators separated from the general population. Warden Carl Hocker rejected the amnesty demand but said he would review the instigators’ cases after normal conditions are restored. No evening meal served.
