Lompoc High Booster Club sponsors a gift certificate drawing with prizes including a $100 Savings Bond during the Lompoc Cabrillo game on November 13. Tickets cost $1 and are sold by Key Club, Lompoc Drill Team, JV cheerleaders, and Booster Club members, also at Huyck Stadium before home games. The club also promotes a Homecoming Parade on October 30 at 6:30 p.m. with cash awards for top entries and plans a Winter sports banquet on December 13 led by Mrs. Lyle Bolinger and Gus Knickrehm arranging a speaker.

Three held in Shandon killings over guitar dispute
San Luis Obispo County Sheriff says the murders of Ronald Barnes his wife and their 4-year-old daughter Shelly likely stemmed from an argument over ownership of an electric guitar and amplifier. The suspects John Archa 26 and his half brothers Dennis 14 Kenny 13 were arrested in Fresno on murder suspicions after luring Barnes from his home.
