Spy planes scour Alaska coast for Boggs missing group
SR71 reconnaissance jet and two Mohawk aircraft equipped with infrared gear searched the Alaska coastline for Hale Boggs and three others after a Cessna 310 vanished near Portage Pass. Weather delayed effort but 86 planes joined the hunt. DoD says color film can reveal a person from 15 miles.

The California Highway Commission adopts an 895.070 million highway budget for 1973 74 and delays bypass construction funds to 1974 75. The four lane freeway on Highway 1 between Highway 246 south and Santa Ynez River area spans 5.1 miles with interchanges at 246 Central Avenue Lompoc Casmalia Road and Burton Mesa Boulevard. Estimated project cost is 9.6 million with 7.8 million budgeted in 1974 75.
