Nightgowns Treated With Fyrol FR-2 To Remain On Shelves
About a million children's nightgowns treated with Fyrol FR-2 will stay on sale but must carry a label warning consumers. The Consumer Product Safety Commission voted 3 to 1 to refrain from pulling them, approving a voluntary plan for Penney's to post signs and label each treated garment. The agency notes Fyrol FR-2 is a suspected carcinogen linked to Tris, and Penney's is the sole known seller with about a million such garments. Consumers can request information and call 800 638-2666 for questions about Tris or Fyrol.
