Two Women Repel Mob Save Soldiers in Londonderry
In Londonderry's Bogside area two middle aged women fought off about 30 youths who attacked an armored troop carrier, using an umbrella, stones and fists to keep the crowd at bay for about 15 minutes. Angels Guard Avocado Grove From California Brush Fire
Volner and Kathryn Morgan evacuated their nearly three acre avocado grove in Gobernator Canyon as a large brush fire threatened. State Division of Forestry crews from Felton near Santa Cruz stayed overnight, defending the home with hoses and a backfire while the Morgans kept a phone line open and served iced tea to the workers. The couple thanked the firefighters, calling them angels as they left, assuring the home was safe.
