Jewel Thieves Loot Sophia Loren in $650000 Robbery

Four armed men stormed the Hampshire House in New York taking jewelry worth about 650000 after misleading staff and entering Loren's suite. Loren and her child were safe. secretary Inez Bruscia was injured as loot was seized and most valuables taken. Police reviewed mug shots and investigated.

Civil Rights Commission flags weak progress on discrimination

The U.S. Civil Rights Commission released a 1,115 page report calling federal efforts to end racial discrimination disappointing. It criticized lack of coordination in civil rights enforcement, urged presidential leadership, and recommended a White House Civil Rights subcommittee to oversee programs. It also notes no substantial period of uniform high effectiveness since the 1950s and 60s. The report mentions more than 2,000 asteroids found since Ceres discovery, located between Mars and Jupiter.
