Private water plan OKed for Santa Maria Valley housing project
County Health Department officials told the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday they recommended approving a plan to supply water from a private well to a housing development in the Santa Maria Valley. The project Tract 11,718 includes 17 lots on 10 acres with Dennis Dallaston as developer. Supervisor Curtis Tunnell said the water supply appears ample as large wells serve nearby grape orchards and noted no public water facilities are within miles. A permit for a private system serving under 200 units would require water quality and supply continuity assurances.
