Parrot in court stalls custody hearing in Israel case
In Haifa a parrot named Yossi refused to talk in a custody hearing over who owns the gray bird with red tail feathers. Magistrate Miriam Verlinsky adjourned the case to November 15 as the parrot’s silence leaves key questions unresolved. The dispute arose after Amos Meyer reported Yossi missing and later claimed the bird from Haim Moas. A German-speaking sergeant testified the bird sang a German folk song and mimicked Meyer's cough, supporting Meyer's ownership claims. The bird spoke Monday but muffed its chance to set the record straight.
