Lompoc aids the poor through parish boxes and charity

In Lompoc the St. Vincent de Paul Society administers poor box donations from La Purisima and other churches. Anthony Eble oversees weekly deposits and interviews to help the needy within box limits, while thieves twice yearly loot boxes. multiple denominations provide food baskets and funds to assist the poor.

South coast districts told to cut budgets under AB 2008

Montecito Carpinteria Summerland water districts and five Hope Ranch Mission Canyon districts receive notifications to reduce budgets per Assembly Bill 2008. The county plans to set maximum tax rates for all districts under county supervision using 1971 72 or 1972 73 rates as bases.

LAFCO to Discuss Isla Vista Incorporation and Goleta Status

The Local Agency Formation Commission will review incorporation questions for Isla Vista and Goleta Valley at a Thursday session at 2 p.m. in the County Administration Building. Isla Vista Community Council plans to forward an incorporation proposal to LAFCO this week, with Goleta Valley Chamber of Commerce likely to submit a separate plan the following week.
