Taiwan officials view Cal Poly as potential partner in tech education

A Taiwan Ministry of Education delegation led by Dr. Kuo Wei-Fan toured Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with President Robert E. Kennedy. They discussed a two year senior college of technology and observed laboratories in engineering disciplines and the instructional materials program as part of a proposed international cooperation.

Lompoc Library Art Exhibits Schedule Through March

The Lompoc Public Library announces a new art show opening Oct 14 in the multi purpose room, with exhibits through March including Nat Fast watercolor Oct 14–Nov 2, Kenneth Randall Nov 3–30, Cathy Capshaw Dec 1–21, George Searson Jan 2–27, a February print show, and Roy Ekstrom March dates. All shows are free to the public.

California ban on new osteopath licenses challenged

Dr. John C. Taylor, president of the American Osteopathic Association, anticipated a California Supreme Court ruling that an 11 year ban on licensing new osteopaths is unconstitutional. He said California has lost about 1,000 potential physicians due to the ban.

Breaking the Learning Barrier Workshop at Allan Hancock

The Continuing Education Division at Allan Hancock College announces a special workshop for parents and teachers entitled Breaking the Learning Barrier. It runs October 12 13 and 19 20 with sessions 6 10 p m and 9 a m to 6 p m in the Student Meeting Room Hancock. Barbara Marshall explains the program aims to give tools to address major learning barriers and foster self expression and a positive outlook. A 1 registration fee is charged and registration is during the workshop.

Two MIGS force down BOAC jet to Aden and back

A BOAC 747 with 253 aboard was forced to land at Aden by two MIG fighters. After authorities checked passengers, the plane lifted off three hours later and continued to Johannesburg. Officials could not identify the MIGs nationality or origin.
