Snow blanketed Douglas and roiling western states

United Press International reports seven inches of snow in Douglas Wyoming with travel hazards rising as additional areas in the north and central Rockies pick up snow. Casper and Lander Wyoming record four inches while Chadron Nebraska has three. Travelers warnings issued across Montana, Wyoming, northern Utah, northern Colorado, and parts of Nebraska as temperatures drop below freezing in western regions.

Huntley Attacks Agnew as Puppet of Nixon at Pitt

Former NBC broadcaster Chet Huntley told University of Pittsburgh students that Spiro Agnew is a puppet of President Nixon and that Agnew’s rhetoric divides the country for political gain. Police arrested 39 youths outside the hotel where Agnew spoke.

Alaska oil pipeline moves toward start in 1980s

Interior Secretary Walter J. Hickel said a $1.5 billion, 800 mile Alaska oil pipeline could begin late winter or next spring. A 48 inch line would need a permit within 60 to 90 days, with construction approval within the same period, no permit before the Nov. 3 election. About 15 percent may be above ground over permafrost to guard thawing ground.

Unruh Pledges 25 Percent Property Tax Cut
