Lompoc Council Proposes Six Month Delay For Auto Wrecking Yards

The Lompoc City Council delayed action for six months on relocating Perry's Auto Wrecking and Roy’s Auto Wrecking and Garage while outlining steps to curb non conforming use. A plan to pursue a county crusher purchase and to rewrite a planning commission resolution as an ordinance was approved, with a 90 day progress report planned.

Nixon to unveil broad Indochina peace proposals

President Nixon plans a nationwide 6 p.m. PDT address to announce sweeping Indochina peace proposals aimed at a cease fire in Vietnam Laos and Cambodia. The plan may include ending U.S. combat role by next summer and prisoner of war release discussions at Paris.

Council votes to modify cyclist property rule in city ordinance

The council approved a 4-1 vote urging the county board of supervisors to change its ordinance on motorcycle use on private property. France and Soviet Near Treaty After Five Hour Talks

French President Georges Pompidou and Soviet Premier Alexei Kosygin narrowed differences in five hours of talks and hints of a Franco Soviet treaty emerged. Foreign Minister Maurice Schumann pressed that Pompidou’s comment referred to a possible step, with Pompidou staying in the USSR through next week to discuss security, economic ventures, and the Soviet West German treaty.
