Three Palestinian guerrillas freed 255 captives aboard a hijacked KLM 747 in Valletta Malta then refueled in Dubai before continuing toward Aden. The plane carried 10 crewmen and KLM Vice President A W Witholt who volunteered as a hostage to secure release of eight stewardesses and passengers.

Alan Davidson, previously Fresno assistant city attorney, is named Lompoc city attorney and will join staff January 2. The unanimous vote followed a special executive session. Secretary shows how she erased tape in court
Rose Mary Woods demonstrated how she says she accidentally erased part of a White House tape in UPI report from Washington. Judge Sirica ordered turnover of Woods office equipment to determine how 18 minutes were erased from a June 20 1972 recording. The public hearing opened with the first public playback of White House tape containing Nixon aides Ehrlichman and Haldeman. Senate Watergate committee subpoenas for Hughes employees and clarifications on enforcement were discussed as hearings were postponed until January.

Nixon tax forms release undecided by White House
President Nixon has not decided if he will release his income tax forms yet. A White House spokesman said a group is working to provide complete information this week and the format remains unspecified.
