Solvang incorporation hearing moved to December 11
LAFCO has rescheduled the Solvang incorporation public hearing from December 4 to December 11 at 2 p.m. to give the County Office of Environmental Quality more time for its environmental impact report. County officials warned the final report may not be ready by December 4 due to a December 1 EIR hearing and related testimony. Pro-incorporation leaders seek a June 1976 election date, else November 1976 options remain.

Two Die In Santa Maria Truck Car Crash
A Friday crash at Black and Betteravia Roads west of Santa Maria killed Julio Raul Rea 20 of Arroyo Grande and John Melvin Woolsey 50 of Santa Maria. Woolsey died in a truck cab explosion and Rea was ejected after his car struck the truck. The crude oil fire burned over three hours, with officials stating sparks from the skid ignited fuels and a road-side fire spread.
