Mekong Delta battles claim 70 Communist troops
Saigon military command reported that South Vietnamese infantry killed 70 Communist troops in the Mekong Delta during intensified fighting for the fall rice crop. They also said 65 rebels were killed near Cai Lay, 50 miles southwest of Saigon, with no government casualties. In Cambodia, rebels captured a hilltop above Highway 4 to bolster control of a key supply route to Phnom Penh.
