Westside Rapist Claims Ninth Victim In LA
A 70-year-old widow Annette Weingarten was found bound and dead in her apartment, police say likely the ninth victim in the Westside Rapist case. The eighth victim, Lillian Kramer, was found in Wilshire District last Friday. A spokesman suggests multiple attackers may be involved.

Marines sue over discharge for obesity under weight rules
James H. Shorter 35 a 245 pound gunnery sergeant at Twentynine Palms sues in federal court claiming his discharge for obesity is unlawful. He has served 17 years and weighed 297 pounds last February when he began losing weight to 259 then 251 then 219 as new limits were applied. The Marine administrative board recommended discharge on October 1.
