A blast at Pentachem Co. near 715 W Century Ave sent drums flying up to 400 feet and released poisonous fumes over a quarter mile. The four block evacuation ended two hours later as breezes cleared the air. damage estimated at 250000 with walls injured and fire controlled by local agencies. No injuries reported and cause under investigation.

Biko allegedly went berserk during interrogation says officer
South African Maj Harold Snyman testified that Steve Biko fought five guards, was pinned and shackled, then allegedly struck his head on a wall during Sept interrogation. Biko died Sept 12 in Pretoria prison from brain damage after the incident.
