Kissinger Holds Long Talks With Mao in Peking

Secretary of State Henry Kissinger met for nearly two hours with Mao Tse tung at the edge of the Forbidden City. The talks followed a three hour session with Premier Chou En-lai. Mao sent greetings to President Nixon and Kissinger conveyed best wishes to Mao from the President.

Lompoc Youth Injured In Accidental Gunshot

A 14 year old boy from Lompoc is in good condition at Lompoc Hospital after a .22 caliber rifle round pierced the back of his left hand and exited the palm in an accidental shooting. His father drove him to the hospital Saturday afternoon near Sweeney Road.

Price hike to impede recruitment of physicians in Lompoc Valley

Local doctors warn that a 75 percent rise in malpractice insurance will push premiums from about $4 000 to $7 000 yearly. Dr James D Warrick of Valley Medical Group says the higher costs, following prior increases, will deter young physicians from private practice and worsen the area’s doctor shortage. He notes costs rose from about $500 annually in 1968 to current levels.
