Bell tolls for installation of Miguelito Chapter officers

Newly elected officers of 1970 for Miguelito Chapter Order of Eastern Star were installed in a ceremony at the new Masonic Temple. Officiating officers and visiting matrons from nearby chapters attended. The event concluded with a reception and a flag presentation by DeMolay members.

Filipino Americans install officers at Lompoc club dinner

The Lompoc Filipino American Club plans its annual installation dinner dance at Village Country Club on Saturday night. A roast beef dinner is served at 7 30 p.m. followed by an officer installation and related events.

Red Cross awards honor volunteers at Vandenberg luncheon

Red Cross volunteers at Vandenberg gathered for an awards luncheon at the Officers Club patio. Over 70 attendees included Col. Oakley K. Park hospital commander Col. John J. Hill chief of hospital services Col. John C. Rhoades Dental Clinic commander Chaplain Hannemann Miss Sue Sennett field director and Mrs. William H. Organ volunteers chair. Pins were presented to 25 new volunteers and many earned two year service awards. Mrs. Wood received a 29 year service honor while others were cited for extensive hours and veteran work in veterans hospitals. Luncheon chair was Mrs. M. McDowell with Moonlighters providing music. Installation ceremonies followed with leaders named and remarks by Councilman Speight.

Luncheon Celebrates Dorothy Cutting Birthday

A luncheon at the Lodge Restaurant honored Mrs. Harold Cutting with friends and First Baptist Church parishioners attending. Hostess Mrs. Vance Newcomb and family hosted a later birthday gathering at Mrs. Cutting’s sister’s home with a special cake and gifts.

Hanstein speaks on drugs to Lompoc women club

Jack Hanstein delivered an inclusive talk on drugs and their use to the Lompoc Valley Republican Women’s Club, urging rehabilitation for youth and adult mentors to bridge communications. Post meeting, club members discussed county and Southern Division conventions, nominating committee for 1970 officers, and local sale notices.

Community helpers column invites volunteers and donations

The Lompoc Record presents a bi monthly feature inviting clubs and individuals to volunteer. The Health and Welfare Coordination Council coordinates welfare efforts and runs the Thrift Shop to aid residents. Christmas Cheer operates from the Thrift Shop with donations due by December 20. Volunteer contacts are listed and the shop will have a half price sale on November 24 to 26. A family requests a washing machine and vacuum cleaner in usable condition via Mrs Mimi Main.

Blood Bank drive praised by Major Witzgall at Coast post

Major Fred L. Witzgall of Vandenberg AFB Hospital urged support for the Blood Bank drive during a hail-farewell coffee hosted by the Officers Wives Club.
