Debris Dump Cleanup Planned For Lookout Park Right Of Way
Southern Pacific informs the Board of Supervisors that old water heaters and battered mattresses dumped on the Summerland Ocean Bluffs right of way will be carted away with other fill material. First District Supervisor Frost sought a county probe into alleged dumping. SP says the fill was to shore up the deteriorating main line right of way and that some items were hauled in without its knowledge during city redevelopment work. The county says a grading permit is likely required and may have worsened a slide. SP will grade and clean the site, while Frost pushes stronger dumping controls and a progress report in two weeks.
