Family Services held its monthly awards coffee at the Family Services Center, Vandenberg AFB. Credit Women International Lompoc Install Officers

Royal Coach Restaurant hosted Credit Women International Lompoc Branch installation with retiring president Phyllis Anderson passing the gavel to Pam Sesto. Janet Case officiated. new officers include Jean Bartholomew Olga Martin Phyllis DeMatteis Susan Trujillo. The Newlywed Game entertained. Bartholomews won the game and guests continued celebrations at the Scherer home.

Monterey Jack Cheese Cocktail Cookies Win Cash Prize

June M Henderson of Vandenberg Village won a $100 prize in a Monterey Jack Cheese contest by California Seasons of Monterey for her cheese cocktail cookies recipe. Second place went to Carol Sweetapple for Enchiladas for Sweet Thursday and third to Roberta Winter for Yodeler's Fondue. The winning recipe is shared along with others planned for a future recipe book.

AARP to Hear Santa Barbara Research on First White Settlement

Richard S. Whitehead, retired Santa Barbara County Planning director, will speak on Santa Barbara's first white settlement Royal Presidio at the AARP meeting on Thursday November 15. Two couples married over 50 years will be honored. Members plan a Christmas luncheon and gift exchange. Donations for The Farmhouse will be collected.

Companions of America Honda Circle 708 hosts a holiday bazaar and baked goods sale this Friday and Saturday November 9 and 10 at the Del Norte Mobile Estates Recreation Center. Sale hours run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day with gift items and baked goods for browsing. The Chamber of Commerce Women’s Division holds its monthly meeting on the third Monday November 19 at Valley Club with a 12 noon buffet lunch and a guest speaker from a San Luis Obispo television station. A PAN AM tour flight to Hawaii was a late vacation for George and Carol Gransie and daughter Gina, totaling ten days on Oahu and Kauai. Attending the wedding of William H. Steele and Roma Simpson in Santa Barbara on Saturday November 3 were Emily Alves and Robert Lilley. a reception followed at El Celito Restaurant. Steele, once a military police officer in 1956 at Vandenberg, later joined the Santa Barbara District Attorney’s Office as chief investigator. Lompoc Kiwanis Annes set their November 13 meeting in the Library’s multi purpose room with Earl Calvert, president of Lompoc Valley Historical Society, as guest speaker. slides on Channel Islands and early Lompoc will be shown and members may bring guests.
