The discussion, Nov 3 at 7 30 p m in Lompoc Public Library multi use room, will address public dissatisfaction funding cuts and growth of private schools. The talk precedes AAUW business and 1971 72 nominating committee selections.
Captain Henry Sweetser Chapter D.A.R. installs Mrs. W M Harris as regent and Mrs. James Draper as vice regent with Mrs. Don Black conducting. The event honors the chapter’s fifth anniversary and features readings from Mrs. Draper and a national society update. Members report DAR birthday on Columbus Day and announce a Torrey Pines Preserve donation and a veterans hospital aid project.
The Alpha Club plans its annual Escort Night at Village Country Club this Saturday with a Broadway theme. Reservations are via Mrs. William Bastedo. guest performer William Frankfather, Allan Hancock College artist in residence, will entertain after a 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. happy hour. Hostess Mildred Joy and members oversee the event with chairmen Mrs. R C Teeple and Mrs. C R Thompson assisted by several members.
Cub Pack 62 met in October with two themes Fire Prevention and Halloween. Den one staged a magic show with Tina Lauderdale assisting. Fireman Ed Castrez spoke on fire prevention and showed Operation Edith. Webelos posted colors led by John Hernandez. Awards included bobcat pins and patches to many scouts. several earned silver and gold arrows, a wolf badge, and a cub graduation certificate.
