Alessio found guilty in gratuity case at Lompoc prison

Wealthy Dominic Alessio, 31, son of San Diego financier John Alessio, was found guilty by a U S District Court jury of giving a gratuity to the Lompoc Federal Correctional Institution camp administrator. Sentencing set for July 9.

Lightning Crowds North California Forest Fires

Firefighters fought 58 lightning sparked wildfires across Northern and Central California covering 1655 acres. By early today all fires were reported controlled with 800 patrol crews on standby. Small spots remained in San Luis Obispo and Siskiyou Lassen Modoc counties, with no injuries or structures damaged.

Gurney pushes for top Nixon witnesses at hearings

Court of Appeals rules Dodson erred on grand jury reports

The California Court of Appeals finds Superior Court Judge Floyd C. Dodson erred in rejecting a 1972 Santa Barbara Grand Jury interim report and in directing the 1973 grand jury to submit reports to him first for approval. The court orders Dodson to stop interfering with grand jury reports and sequesters none of the 1972 interim report beyond its time. The ruling follows a January challenge by Santa Barbara District Attorney David Minier after a stormy court session.
