Ralston Rallies In Rain Affects French Open Action

In Paris Dennis Ralston and Cliff Richey faced weather delays as rain halted several matches. Ralston of Bakersfield won 6-0 6-4 0-6 0-6 6-4 to reach the third round, while Richey led 6-4 6-3 8-10 6-6 before day end. Rod Laver trailed Dick Crealey as rain paused play. Nancy Richey and Julie Heldman advanced to the third round in women's draw.

In Memphis 144 golfers started the 12th Memphis Open as 84 beat par of 70 under 90 degree heat. Bob McCallister shot a seven under par 63 to lead a group at 63 while Lee Elder and Ron Reif trailed by one stroke. Gene Littler and Lee Trevino stood two back with 66.

Simpson seeks trade to secure payment he believes is due

O J Simpson, USC Heisman winner, in Indianapolis for the 500 race, says he wants a pro football trade to a club that pays his value. Buffalo owner Ralph C Wilson offers 50 000 a year for five years.
