Catholic Daughters re elect Mrs Holley grand regent

Mrs Clyde C Holley is reelected as grand regent for a second year at Court La Purisima. Imaginative Flower Show demo by local clubs

Alpha Club members saw a creative floral demonstration by Mrs. Donald Gillum of Goleta, president of the Garden Study Club of Santa Barbara. Assisted by Mrs. Eugene Miller, the session showcased inventive vessels and floral combos using roses, calla lilies, orchids, geraniums, cat-tails, onion blossoms, and coco palm pods. Bluing in water was suggested to hide the pin frog as the arrangement sat on an improvised base.

College offers sewing classes this summer

Allan Hancock College announces a summer sewing program in the evening division. Instruction covers stretch fabrics knit fabrics and garment construction including pants sweaters suit jackets and bathing suits. Two sessions run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 1 pm starting June 16 with Betty Ollocco as instructor. Pre registration runs 8 am to 4 30 pm daily and 6 to 9 pm Monday through Thursday. A 3 tuition is due at registration.

Medallion Day ends in tight net for village ladies golf

Village Country Club held Medallion Day with 48 women competing. Low net tied by Betty Lechner and Marguerite Bledsoe, Viviane Irvine clinched the winning low putt for the month, and Marguerite Bledsoe was overall champion with Joyce Campbell and Elsie Brisco as runners-up. Flight winners and consolation results noted for four flights plus crier’s flight won by Betty Lechner.
