Lompoc Hospital Board Keeps Tax at Five Cents Hikes Room Rates

Directors of Lompoc Hospital District vote to hold the operating tax at five cents and raise room charges by five dollars across the board. The 1971 72 budget calls for about two million dollars in expenditures, about ten percent higher than the current year. Employees receive seven percent across the board pay increases per hospital administrator Kenneth Wicks. Ancillary services such as x ray and lab stay at current rates. The bed price in semi private rooms climbs from 43 to 48 dollars, ward beds from 42 to 47 dollars. Long term care remains 15 dollars a day in a ward and 18 dollars for semi private.

Antipoverty Chief Accuses CRLA of Lying

Sacramento UPI reports Lewis K. Unler, state antipoverty chief and Reagan appointee, accuses the California Rural Legal Assistance of lying about representing Henry Lucero in a firebombing case. He tells the Sacramento Rotary Club the CRLA uses the big lie tactic against the Reagan administration.

Obituaries for Arlene Lewis and Harry Lane

Funeral services for Arlene Lewis 74 will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Reis Mortuary Chapel San Luis Obispo. she died Wednesday in a local hospital. Survivors include daughter Dorothy Ranney and siblings. Also noted are pending services for Harry Lane 74 who died at Lompoc District Hospital with burial plans in Pasadena area. Lane's survivors include wife Sadie and children. The column recalls historical notes on Columbus era mass and Robert Goddard rocket milestones.

District to review 1971 72 budget and Livestream pact

Directors of the Santa Ynez River Water Conservation District meet next Tuesday at 3622 Sagunto St Santa Ynez to consider the preliminary fiscal plan for 1971 72 and discuss a Livestream agreement. The session begins at 1 30 p m. Also on the agenda is budget discussion.

Methadone Clinic Set to Open in Santa Maria

A methadone treatment clinic for northern Santa Barbara County heroin addicts opens June 2 in the 400 block of W Park Street behind the County Hospital in Santa Maria. Twenty two addicts have qualified for treatment under the experimental program and will be dosed daily from 8 am to 10 am under strict State of California controls.
