Sick leave plan in jeopardy county employees wary

County administration warns the incentive payoff for unused sick leave could end if usage keeps rising. A newsletter reports 162,825 hours used in 1971-72 from 250,349 earned, with eight days per year per employee, threatening the program mid-1974 unless employees reduce sick leave use.

Mitchell charged with DUI after collision injures man

Leon Mitchell 58 of 1821 E Ocean Ave faced court action on DUI charges after a crash involving a parked car that injured him and Larry Gene Kerns of 2122 N E St. Both were treated at Lompoc Hospital and Mitchell bail was set at 1020 dollars.

Stolen Garbage Truck Recovered Near Isabella Pa

State police found a stolen garbage truck parked along a rural road near Isabella after drivers complained of a foul odor. The $6,000 vehicle owned by Robert Conan of Rice Landing was stolen early Monday with a full load of garbage.

Edward White Dies in Washington at 22

Funeral arrangements are pending in Greenfield, Washington, for Edward James White, 22, who died there yesterday. He was a Lompoc Unified School District graduate, last employed at Gresco Co. He is survived by widow Margaret P. White, two stepdaughters, Therese N. and Denise A. White, his mother Hazel Kirkland of Washington, father Nyal White of Paso Robles, two brothers Wayne White of Goleta and Dean Bowman of Oxnard, and maternal grandmother Grace Kirkland of Washington.
