Theatre of Future Dance Drama presented at campus

Agnes Grogan directs Allan Hancock College dancers in Theatre of Future a final 1970 71 season production at the Performing Arts Center. The program runs last night tonight tomorrow and May 27 28 29 at 8 pm with 13 medleys tracing Biblical to 20th century themes using lighting music and projections. Some segments like Symbolism critique traffic flow with synchronized sound and imagery challenging viewers reflexes.

Richter says quake experts should stop predicting quakes

At a five day international seismic conference in San Francisco Dr Charles Richter urged experts to abandon quake prediction. He warned public obsession with forecasts diverts effort from improving building design to reduce deaths and damage. ARVN U.S. Forces Push Ridge at A Shau Valley

South Vietnamese infantry with U.S. helicopter gunships battled bunkers on a three mile ridge in the A Shau Valley. ARVN reports 96 bunkers captured and 45 enemy killed with 83 total Communist losses since Wednesday. Air support and ground fire supported the assault.

County seeks planning director amid broad recruitment

A full recruitment drive for a county planning director is under way by the County Personnel Department. A citizens group may sit on the oral board while evaluating applicants. The vacancy pays 18 096 to 21 960 annually and is advertised across California. Planning director Herbert H. Diverbiss will stay until a successor is chosen. The Goleta Valley Planning Group urges a broad committee including a citizens’ rep. The request was sent to Personnel Director William S. Wagstaff. Administrative Officer Raymond D. Johnson has left for Lake Tahoe for a California County Planning Directors Assn. conference. Ventura County is also seeking to fill a vacancy.
