ROP Gives OJT With TLC In Santa Ynez Valley
Kelly Watkins a 16 year old Santa Ynez Valley High School junior is among students in a two section Santa Ynez and Lompoc Valleys ROP retail merchandising program run by Owen Filer. The program pairs four hours of classroom instruction with at least 10 hours weekly of on the job training across 35 local business sites. Students choose three job placements in a four week cycle and may extend to eight weeks. Watkins has worked at Copenhagen Bakery and Moore's Office Supply and will present at a Solvang Business Association dinner Monday night about the ROP program funded by the State Department of Education and Santa Barbara County Schools.

The Buellton Community Services District eyed an eight inch trunk sewer of 4800 feet north of Highway 246 on McMurray Road with manholes but no extras at a cost of 100000. North McMurray Road property owners asked for service and will present cost estimates at a June 1 session.

Horse Show Set Sunday At Alisal Ranch Arena
A Western Horse Show delayed by rain will run Sunday starting 8 am at the Alisal Ranch Arena under Santa Ynez Valley Horse Show Assn sponsorship. Top riders from Santa Barbara County compete in 16 classes including snaffle bit and memorial trophies with a handmade saddle prize and silver bits awarded to top horses. A chicken barbecue serves at noon. VFW Post 7139 and auxiliary run a chuck wagon stand on site.

The Santa Barbara hearings ruled negative impacts for Midtown Development a 26 lot Buellton residential project north of State Highway 246 and a three way Los Olivos lot split both avoiding the town moratorium.
