Nixon agrees to release Douglas records
President Nixon will grant House investigators full access to government records on Justice William O. Douglas as part of the impeachment inquiry. The White House called it normal cooperation and said the administration is not involved in the investigation. Rep. Emanuel Celler said lawmakers will review IRS, Justice Department, SEC and other agency files. Douglas has offered personal and Supreme Court records. The probe centers on criticism that his recent book urged disrespect for the law.
