Santa Ynez Valley Horse Show winners named at Alisal Ranch
The 21st annual Santa Ynez Valley Horse Show at Alisal Ranch Arena awarded three trophy saddles. David Clapp won the high point English trophy saddle after three hunter wins. Pam Lish claimed the Working Stock Horse Class saddle. Tyke Minetti won the Ranch Using Horse Class. Jean Mathews, Larry Balzar and Walt Mason won the team penning event. Bill Cochrane took the Jaquima Class silver bit. Officials report near perfect weather during the two day event. An aggressive county pest survey then began in Santa Barbara County, coordinated by the County Agricultural Commissioner and the California Department of Food and Agriculture, to detect and control alien pests in homes, farms, and storage facilities.

ABWA Santa Ynez Chapter To Award Scholarships
The Santa Ynez Valley Chapter of the American Business Women s Association will present its annual scholarship at a 7 p.m. dinner in Buellton s Pea Soup Andersen s Juliette Room. The chapter joins ABWA for Scholarship Month and honors the bicentennial. Last year ABWA awarded over 7 00 000 in scholarships nationwide plus 150 000 in grants and loans. Valley recipients include Sandi Laranjo at San Diego State University and Sue Robinson near further study. This year three local scholarships are planned along with contributions to the national fund. ABWA also awards two bicentennial scholarships in agriculture and urban planning.

Condemnation Averted for Reservoir Site
Solvang Municipal Improvement District and William Reelfs reached a settlement on a reservoir site north of town. An escrow of 30 days or less will purchase the less than an acre tract for a 450000 gallon water storage reservoir at 17500 plus road easements. Supervisor forum for fourth district candidates set
