Bruce Foster earned star scout rank at a Troop 103 Court of Honor held May 10 at Clarence Ruth School. Other awards included merit badges in first aid and citizenship, camping patches for many scouts, and a 25hour service stripe for community service.

Community Womans Club installs officers and plans projects
The Lompoc Community Womans Club installed officers at the Royal Coach Restaurant with Gail Benson of Toastmistress Club as installing officer. New officers include Jackie Molihan president Maggie Hanshaw first vice president Trudy Okun second vice president Melva Riegel third vice president Mary Frances Berkey corresponding secretary Ione Dunn recording secretary and Marialyce Shaw treasurer. Frances Beckett will serve as parliamentarian. The group approved a $500 savings account dedication for a community project and held a mini bazaar. A May 19 meeting and a May 28 couples party were announced along with a P.E.O. report and art exhibits by members. A baby girl, Kimberly Lyn, was born to Sgt. and Mrs. S M Gillette Jr. in Colorado Springs.
