Mission Fiesta Opens with Mass and Free Fiesta Beans
The Mission Fiesta in Lompoc begins at 11 a.m. with a Spanish Mass at the Mission chapel, sung by the La Purisima choir. A free picnic lunch follows from noon to 1 p.m. as volunteers serve beans tortillas and drinks, with costumes encouraged and bus service provided from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The afternoon features Mexican and Spanish performances from local and distant entertainers and crafts demonstrations by Hapgood Elementary School students, with a CCC reunion and centennial coin prizes for best costumes. A Fiesta Ball precedes the event on Saturday night.
