Sorority awards extra nursing scholarships this year

Xi Lambda Iota Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will award four scholarships to high school seniors entering nurses' training, replacing two. The $400 total comes from a successful chocolate fudge Easter egg sale. Recipients will be announced at a school banquet before graduation.

Recognition dinner honors Eagle Scouts from Mission Council

The second annual recognition dinner at La Cumbre Country Club honored Eagle Scouts from the Del Rio District including Lompoc and Santa Ynez areas. Scout leaders and sponsors from Troops 42 63 67 102 103 704 and Posts 40 63 67 67 392 1369 attended with Gerald A. Woods of General Telephone Santa Barbara as chairman. Principal speaker was Jack C. Curtice former UCSB coach and athletic director. Each Eagle received a pen and pencil set from General Telephone.

Author's Tea Honors Poet Mary Sands at Lompoc Library

Mr and Mrs Richard Lane host an Author's Tea at Lompoc Public Library on Sunday May 17 from two to four to honor Mary D Sands mother and celebrate her poetry. The Lompoc Chamber Singers close their season with performances as part of the event.

Jaycee Wives elect officers and plan Palm Springs convention

Jaycee Wives chose new officers led by president Mrs Larry Flinking at Mrs Douglas Wright home. Installation set for May 23 at Village Country Club and June 4 dinner at Lions Inn. State convention in Palm Springs May 14 to 17 includes a ball with Gov Ronald Reagan address. Twelve members to attend in polka dot scarves and blue dresses.
