Nicklaus Captures Byron Nelson Classic Victory

Jack Nicklaus won the Byron Nelson Golf Classic by two shots over Frank Beard and Jerry McGee. He fired a final round 66 to finish 274 and earned $25,000. Nicklaus, who has won three of his past six events, plans a three week vacation.

Nicklaus Defends Western Open Title In Tight Finish

Jack Nicklaus edged the field by two inches to win the Western Open for the second straight year. Charles Coody shot 71 to finish at 278, earning $5,850, while Bert Yancey, Bobby Nichols and Lee Trevino posted 279 to take $4,541.67. McGee and Beard shared second and third for $11,575 in prize money.
