Terra Firma Garden Turns Trash to Urban Harvest in Sacramento
In a downtown Sacramento lot near the state capitol, 40 volunteers transform waste into a 360 by 160 foot Terra Firma Garden. The project, led by Steve Crowle of Ecology Information Center, hosts a 160 by 160 foot community plot and 48 separate plots. Funds cover water costs. leftover harvests support the Ecology Center. The garden promotes organic farming, education, and communal involvement across ages 14 to 74.
