Man held for murder after wild chase and crash
A Lompoc woman, Remedios DeJesus, 40, died of stab wounds in a family dispute. Virgilio Quitzon, 38, was jailed on murder charges after a high speed chase ending in a collision with a sheriff’s car at Chestnut Avenue and I Street. Deputy Graves was injured. Quitzon was also injured and later arrested. Neighbors and witnesses described a chaotic scene as officers secured the area. Mrs. Quitzon had moved to her sister-in-law’s apartment amid divorce proceedings. Services pending at Starbuck Mortuary.

FBI arrests Lompoc man for Texas murder
Robert Lee Chargois, 29, of Lompoc, arrested by FBI and local officers on a charge of unlawful flight to avoid Texas murder prosecution. Authorities say the suspect killed an elderly grocery store owner during a robbery in Beaumont, Texas. He was to be arraigned in San Luis Obispo and is held in Santa Maria.
